CIP

Calling in point

CIP (Carriage and Isurance Paid To)

The seller has the same obligations as under CPT, but also must contract and pay for insurance against the buyer!/s loss of or damage to the goods during the carriage. The seller contracts for insurance and pays the insurance premium. The buyer should note that under the CIP term, the seller is required to obtain insurance only on minimum coverage

Class

Each ship and engine is classified by a classification company to which an application for classification was submitted. The classification is allotted at regular intervals (mostly five years) and serves as proof of quality, similar to a mark in school. If the classification expires the protection by insurance of the ship equally expires

Class Mark

Short encoded note in the class certificate regarding the class allotted to the ship and/or engine by the classification company

Class Tariff

Tariff according to which certain types of commodity are combined in classes for which a certain sea freight rate is applicable. Opposite: Commodity Tariff
